Heritage Works Management Policy

November 2nd, 2026

As part of the Owners Corporation’s ongoing work to care for and preserve Willsmere, the Committee has recently adopted a Heritage Works Management Policy.

Willsmere is a unique place to live, and its heritage character is an important part of what makes our community special. Since Willsmere was developed into a residential property, a number of documents and processes have been put in place to help owners and the Owners Corporation manage works in a way that respects and protects that heritage.

These include the Owners Corporation Rules, Conservation Management Plan, existing Owners Corporation policies and procedures, and the principles of the Burra Charter, together with relevant Heritage Victoria requirements, permits, and consents. These documents are already available on the Willsmere website and are currently used when works are proposed at the property.

The new policy does not introduce a new approval process or new requirements for owners or the Owners Corporation. Instead, it brings the existing information and processes together into one clear, practical, and easy-to-read guide.

The aim is to make things simpler for everyone by helping owners understand:

1.     the steps to follow when considering works;

2.     what information may be needed when seeking approval;

3.     when Heritage Victoria or another approval may also be required; and

4.     where to find further information and guidance.

By bringing this information together in one place, we hope to make the process easier to navigate while continuing to protect the heritage character of Willsmere for the benefit and enjoyment of our whole community, both now and into the future.

If you are considering works and are unsure about the process, we encourage you to contact the Owners Corporation Manager, who can help point you in the right direction.
